ON THE COLDEST DAY OF THE WINTER

Our wedding day turned out to be more magical than I could’ve dreamed. The day went by in a flash but I’ll always remember every detail.

Getting ready with my bridesmaids was the perfect way to start such a big day. They were full of support and willing to go above and beyond for me, bringing me a much needed sense of calm!

Our first look was cold and windy but super romantic as Kyle held me close. And then there were my two best friends in their bridesmaids dresses, sneakers, and parkas, hiding around the corner to carry my train and my coat!

The most heart racing, head spinning moment of the day was right before I walked down the aisle with my dad. My sister had advised me to pause for a few seconds after the church doors opened to take in all my favorite people smiling at me from the pews, Kyle at the end of the aisle, and my dad by my side. It was incredibly special!

Our next special moment, and my favorite part of the day, was at the altar saying the vows that we wrote. I loved hearing pieces of my own vows in Kyle’s and seeing the love and pride on his face as he won over the crowd with his sincerity and wit. It’s a feeling unlike any other I’ve ever experienced and the best moment of my life so far.

The most anticipated moment of the night for us was our first dance for which we had been taking lessons for over a year. I was terribly nervous but it went as well as we could’ve hoped and we had the absolute best time dancing it!

Our parent dances were special as well. My dad and I did our signature dance move and pulled my mom out to finish our dance with me. That was really fun and special for us because growing up in our house meant dancing in the kitchen everyday.

Kyle and I both loved the speeches and agree that they were a top moment. My dad, Kyle’s brother, and my sister all spoke amazing heartfelt words and even my cousin who gave the blessing added sweet nostalgia. It’s not everyday you get to hear speeches about how great you are!

At the reception, I loved looking out over the room and seeing all mine and Kyle’s people in the same place at the same time. It was pretty surreal but seriously cool!

While it was the coldest, windiest day of winter, it was full of the warmest, loveliest moments and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
