I woke up on the morning of my wedding in my childhood home with my mom excitedly waking me up saying “it’s your wedding day Yaya, it’s your wedding day!!” (family nickname). From that moment on every second of the entire day was happiness. My stepfather drove me to the salon in the morning and there was the most beautiful sunrise. When I saw the sun and the beautiful weather, I know my dad was watching over me in that moment, making sure the day would be beautiful. All morning getting ready with my bridesmaids and my mom, was pure joy and happiness and I felt so much love being with all my best friends. When I finally put my dress on I started to get pretty nervous. All the planning, all the details, all the years of putting this day together was about to start and I was starting to feel it as I was getting ready to walk down the aisle. As soon as I saw my brother waiting to walk me down, my nerves go better because he started crying the most genuine of happy tears, and in that moment, I knew this day was perfect. When we got to the top of the aisle, I saw Stephen. All my fears were washed away once I saw him there, so handsome, and waiting for me. Once we got to each other and grabbed hands, we didn’t let go the entire ceremony. I felt this wave of calm and love, being with him. I knew this was the start of our forever. Every single moment of the wedding we spent together which I know most couples aren’t able to say. This was a priority for us, for our day to be spent together. My mother toasted our marriage with the most wonderful words that brought the entire room to tears with genuine love for both Stephen and I. My maid of honor and best man gave speeches which truly felt like the kindest words which had ever been spoken of the both of us. When dinner was served Stephen and I looked out at our entire wedding to see laughter and love all around us. This was the brightest memory, sitting with my new husband, feeling loved and watching love, laughter, and happiness all around us, knowing this was the start of our forever. We danced the night away and had the most wonderful time with the people we love and adore the most. Our wedding was magical.
