From Carly “Matt and I met when we were seniors in college. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2017 and I graduated from Duquesne University. We immediately clicked when we discovered we had both shared values and interests, particularly music! While we enjoyed our time together when we first dated six years ago, distance and the challenges of graduate studies made the relationship difficult to maintain.
Matt went to law school in Washington, D.C. and I stayed in Pittsburgh to complete a Master’s degree. The following year I moved to Cleveland to start my law school journey. Throughout his time in law school Matt came back to Pittsburgh to work during the summers. I looked to Matt as a mentor because I started law school a year later than him. I always admired his drive and focus, but more importantly, I always appreciated his continued kindness and support of my journey. Our professions and shared interest in staying close to family brought us back to Pittsburgh. After we reconnected, we developed a friendship. That friendship only grew into something deeper. Now I can say that I get to marry my best friend and love and truly could not be happier that we found our way back to one another!
Our ceremony will take place at Duquesne University, my alma mater. My father also attended Duquesne University for undergrad and so did some members of Matt’s family so it is a special place for us! We are excited to celebrate our marriage with family and friends by having our reception at the LeMont Restaurant. Our reception venue is also special because Matt’s parents got married there! “
